Optimized shaft line: Increased power transfer and
reliability
The shaft line of the new Blade Carbon has been completely redesigned. It is
built around an oversized axle and centerline
through composed of a ceramic bearing in internal position and
a needle bushing centered under the bearing surface. This
new construction allows to gain about 2 watts at 100 rpm
minute.
The distance between the ceramic bearing and the needle bushing was
increased by 25%. This provides greater stiffness
to the whole axis line and, consequently, allows to
improve power transmission.
The estate has also been given special attention.
This has been improved by 120% for reliability and
increased longevity. For this reason the new axle line receives the
its outer end a new cap equipped with a gasket
o-ring. Internally it is equipped with a gasket
double lip.
Look axes are only approved after a 2 rotation test
millions of cycles at 100 rpm with a 90 kg load on the center
of the pedal and an eccentric rotation (which creates an impact at each
lap). This equates to a Fernando Gaviria sprint of 1700
watts at 100 rpm for 333 hours! The test is far superior
to the current standard, ISO 4210.
Very powerful support surface
To meet the needs of the most demanding cyclists, in
especially those who compete, the pedal-cleat system must
allow for effective power transfer thanks to a
large and rigid contact surface.
The support surface of BLADE CARBON is equipped with a
67mm wide overmolded steel plate
stainless. This optimizes the contact areas
cleat-pedal, regardless of pedaling angle.
With 700 mm2 of support surface, BLADE CARBON offers a
contact surface optimized for effectiveness and
unmatched power transfer on the market.
Its power-to-weight ratio places it clearly above
of the competition.
Carbon for body and blade
The use of carbon for the body and the blade allows for
lighten the weight of the pedal, as well as gain rigidity for
better power transfer.
